N5786X (cn 1492) One of the Geneva Firefighters standing by during a Med-Evac standby at Geneva Memorial Hospital, now known as UH Geneva Medical Center. Using my old Pentax K-1000, I caught N5786X, an Aerospatiale AS-350B Ecureuil landing on the pad. While Metro Life Flight began operations in September 1982, it was still considered risky to some and firefighters were often asked to standby with their apparatus during landing and takeoff.

N5786X (cn 1492) Here are a few more from my archives going back to March 1984. While home on leave from the Air Force, I accompanied my old friends at Geneva Fire Dept, where I began my firefighting career, to a Med-Evac standby at Geneva Memorial Hospital, now known as UH Geneva Medical Center. Using my old Pentax K-1000, I caught N5786X, an Aerospatiale AS-350B Ecureuil landing on the pad. N5786X (cn 1492) Taken around 1985 at the Pepper Pike Fire Station on Shaker Blvd. This aircraft was built in 1982. In 1987, it was re-registered and exported to Australia becoming VH-TQY, then VH-WFX, then VH-ENC at the end of 2005. As of April 2006 it's registered VH-ENC and is operated by Sydney Helicopters on sightseeing tours. To date it has worn at least four liveries. This is a photo of a photo my dad took as a Pepper Pike firefighter.

N5786X (cn 1492) A photo of a photo taken by my dad when he was a firefighter for the Pepper Pike Fire Department. Circa 1985. Cleveland Metro Life Flight was founded in 1982 as the first air medical program in the area. From 1958 until 1989, the hospital was known as Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital. In '89 it became The MetroHealth System that it's known as today. According to the hospital, its Life Flight program is its most recognizable symbol of its leadership in trauma. For years the hospital operated Sikorsky S-76s. As of 2009, the program operates 3 Eurocopter EC145s.
