Hi All,
I want to let you know that we have made further changes to the autofill functions on the upload page for the gallery.  It has more functionality and is proving to be a real time saver.  It works the same way as it does on other aviation sites and should be pretty self explanatory.  Even so, if you have any problems or questions, please post them here:

You need to be a member to view our links.

Upload Tips:

-Enter the aircraft registration and three or four letter city code into the autofill boxes, and press "autofill".  If the aircraft or airport already appear in the database, you will see "data found!" and the pertinent information will automatically fill in for you.  If the registration is not in the database, upload it the old fashioned way and enter the information yourself.  Once this is done and the photo is accepted, the registration will now become part of the database and will be available for autofill when the next photo is uploaded.

-If a registration has multiple entries, drop boxes will now come down allowing you to make the proper selections.

-Double check your category selection boxes, since they will fill in from the most recent posting of that registration.  For example, if the last photo of a registration that was uploaded was a night shot, that box will still be selected when it autofills.  Simply check or uncheck the appropriate boxes.

-The date function glitch has also been corrected so that when you enter it in the autofill it will also fill in automatically in the boxes below.

-Edit In Queue

Now here's something I've been waiting for for a long time...you can now edit your own photos while in queue!  We all make mistakes and now you can fix them yourself instead of having to write in for corrections.  I've never minded fixing those up for everyone, but it will be a great time saver for me while going through the queue and it will save you from having to write in with your corrections.

Simply go to "my photos" on the upload page, and you now have an "edit" button that you can use to correct your data.  You can edit, but you cannot delete from queue and I hope you'll take the time to double check your photos after you upload them.  (You might want to change your comments anyway!)

I hope you guys enjoy these changes and that they save you a lot of time.  Let us know what you think!

Finally, I want to thank those of you who were kind enough to write in with suggestions and observations concerning the initial autofill feature.  You helped point out things that needed to be done and we've addressed those issues.  There were other good ideas as well, but they proved to be impractical for our purposes.  From one suggestion, we looked into the possibility of hooking up directly with the FAA website to enter information for registrations that were not in the database, but with the frequent differences in nomenclature between the FAA and common usage, we decided against it.  Furthermore, it doesn't address foreign registered aircraft.  (Thanks for the idea, though!)

And last but not least...the new look really is coming...and very soon!!

Thanks everyone for being here...you make us what we are!

Best Always,

Chuck (and Mark!) :)

One quick add. The auto fill is open for other categories as well. So if you enter in just the reg# and the aircraft is in the database with that reg# at different airports and with different airlines you will be presented with options to select since multiple entries were found. Awesome little Easter egg feature.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
