I highly recommend purchasing a CityPass, which is about $80 and gives you free entrance to the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island ferry, Guggenheim Museum, etc.

Another hint: you might want to stop at a grocery store on the New Jersey side and purchase some food that you can pack for lunches.  Food is expensive in NYC, so if you do want to go to a restaurant, ask to see the menu first.  a $20 meal here in northeast Ohio can cost you $50 in NYC.  Some places will let you duck in and eat your own food if you purchase a drink or dessert.

If you don't want to go to the Statue of Liberty but you want to get closer to her, the Staten Island Ferry is free.

One more tip: there are not a lot of public restrooms in NYC, so chart a course between public areas if that might cause you discomfort.

I don't usually chime in, but to think that no one on an aviation site has recommended touring the USS Intrepid and its Concorde yet was more than I could ignore!  Well worth a few hours of your time.

On my bucket list already.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

We debated a stop here before we left, but decided against it because it seems it would be a better summer-time destination.  The same is the case for the Statue of Liberty.  We'll do both of them in the summer since being out on the water this time of year is liable to be rather cold!  My fianc
