None (cn None) A spectacular view from the Donald D. Engen observation tower at the Smithsonian Udvar-Hazy Center. From 164 feet up, you get a super view of Dulles Int'l Airport to the left center of the picture. Even better, the aircraft land on both sides of the tower, and with a 360 degree view, you can watch aircraft throughout the pattern. Timed correctly, you can see a continuous stream of international heavies coming in one after another. If you like airplanes, you HAVE to go there! That's my Dad in the foreground soaking up the view. We could have spent all day up there.

I say keep the old control tower up at CLE when the new one gets built and let us aviation enthusiasts watch Ops from there- that could be CLE version of the observation tower!

I've been to this very spot and I agree--it's spectacular! We need one in CLE!
