None (cn None) With all the pictures being posted of Marine Week, I thought it would be interesting to post an old postcard from my collection showing BKL in its earlier days. I believe the time frame is the late 60's. Notice the construction of the new runway 6L. The undeveloped parking lot in the foreground and area east of it used to house hangars for light aircraft. The area between the airport and breakwall was wide open, and not filled in like it is today. A Tag Airlines DeHavilland Dove sits outside the new terminal building.

I am sure the western gates were added in anticipation of increased commercial traffic that unfortunately never materialized, when that occured I do not know. Information and timelines regarding construction at Burke is very sketchy, and most internet sources seem to use the same set of vague data. If any Opshoters have more detailed info on Burke's development, I (We) would love to hear more!

Great shot! When did they add the addition to the terminal ("West Concourse")?
