N280US (cn 21159) Seen here in 1993 in a hybrid c/s. Still in the Northwest Orient scheme, but now wearing the new lettering Northwest and logo from the red topped "bowling shoe" colors. On Jan 4, 1990, the most amazing thing happened to this aircraft: NW005 was enroute from MIA-MSP with 145 pax and crew when the #3 engine fell off over Madison, FL after ingesting chunks of frozen lavatory fluid that leaked out from the forward lav service panel.....it made a safe emergency landing in TPA.......I remember seeing this on the news.

Back in the day it was not uncommon to see the dreaded blue juice cheat line from nose to tail, after this incident the NTSB and the FAA stepped in and changed things forever. Thanks for sharing.
