87-0085 (cn M.3204) A US Army CH-47D Chinook sits grounded on a ramp at a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Southwest Asia because of a sandstorm (a common occurrence). The storm had passed just before this was taken. The crew now has to inspect and prep the aircraft so it can return to its base. Chinooks frequently landed there, but rarely stayed for any length of time so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to check it out. The frequent sandstorms cause havoc to the aircraft and maintenance crews. |
