N1199 (cn TLC-99-1) This is a 1963 Pilurs-Smith DSA-1 Miniplane built by Tracy Pilurs, winner of the 1962 Women's National Aerobatic Championship. This plane, designed by Frank Smith, in 1957, was homebuilt, over a four year period and completed in 1965, with instructions costing $25.00. This aircraft is on permanent display at Burke. DSA stands for Darned Small Aircraft, a plane ideal for aerobatics, one of the most commonly homebuilt aircraft. |
