53-5961 (cn 580-9437) Based at Selfridge Field in Michigan, this T-33A was a squadron hack and target aircraft operated by the 171st FIS. This unit flew the F-4C Phantom, and while the F-4's were not permitted to land at Burke, the unit always brought in one of their T-33's. The Phantoms from that unit did make multiple ship formation fly-bys on two successive years, and I will be scanning slides of those fly-bys and posting in the near future.

53-5961 (cn 580-9437) This T-33A made an appearance at the 1984 Cleveland Air Show. Operated by the 171st FIS, 191st FIG, Michigan ANG, this aircraft was based at Selfridge Field north of Detroit. Noteworthy in this scanned pic is an F-16A from Hill Air Force base, and a 2 seat F-15B Eagle in white and blue trim. Back then, the Air Force was much more liberal in allowing aircraft to land at shorter fields like Burke.

Not a very good picture to scan from, this unit made frequent appearances at Cleveland. 152734 was photographed at the Cleveland Air Show in 1984. This aircraft was retired in August of 1991.
