N68041 (cn 46900) Landing runway 09 in 2005 with a company DC-8-60 visible in the distance, this was a former Continental and Emery Air Freight bird, and has since been retired. On May 2, 1972 while on a training flight out of Tucson, this aircraft suffered a massive number 2 engine failure causing separation of the aft portion of the engine from the airframe. N465TA (cn 1374) On May 30 2008, this TACA A320 overran runway 02 at Tegucigalpa, Honduras while operating as TACA 340, a regularly scheduled flight from San Salvador, El Salvador (SAL/MSLP), to Miami, with a stop at Tegucigalpa (TGU/MHTG) in between. Landing in a light rain, the aircraft went down a 65' embankment after exiting the runway with the unfortunate loss of five lives. One crew member perished, as well as two passengers and three people on the ground. The aircraft was written-off. |
