N235U (cn 001) This Oshkosh award-winning Lancair is heading back to its hangar at Geauga County airport during the CGS Hawk Owner's Fly-In. Sadly, this pilot and aircraft would be involved in a terrible mid-air collision with a Cessna 172 forty days later over Rootstown, Ohio. All occupants of both aircraft perished.

N235U (cn 001) This Lancair was judged Champion in Outstanding Workmanship at Oshkosh in 2002, and was indeed a beautiful aircraft. Tragically, this aircraft was destroyed in a collision with a C172 just over a month after this photo. All four persons aboard both aircraft lost their lives. This aircraft and its pictured owner are sorely missed at 7G8, where he used to cut the engine and coast into his hangar. May all four souls rest in peace.
