"United Airlines said tonight it will end nonstop flights between Cleveland and Dallas/Fort Worth, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa in the early spring.

The Dallas service out of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport ends March 5, United spokeswoman Mary Clark said. The Florida service ends April 7.

It was the second day in a row that airlines said they would trim flights at Hopkins

On Tuesday, Frontier confirmed that it will drop nonstops to New York's LaGuardia Airport, Washington-Dulles Airport and Trenton-Mercer Airport in New Jersey in coming months."

AA just announced they are increasing/upgaging CLE-DFW to four daily MD-80s, pretty much increasing their capacity by the same amount that UA is decreasing it.

What a coincidence!

Does this stop A319 service from DFW?

AA A319 has 128 seats, MD80 has 140.

AA's April schedule shows 4 MD-83s on CLE-DFW and no more 319's or CR7s.  AA's traffic in CLE has been steadily growing.

2011 - 75.6K CLE emplanements

2012 - 97.1K

2013 - 101.1K

2014 - 112.3K (year-end projection based on Jan-Aug data)

This is AA only, not including the US side of things; US growth has been even greater.
