N601US (cn 19778) Operating a charter in the last days of its long and active life, this was Northwest's very first 747, and the last of their -100 series 747's to be retired. Pictured between the C and D concourses, it was a very tight fit for this aircraft at an airport that sees precious few widebodies. Retired only a couple months after this photo was taken on 9/25/2000, it was broken up in Maxton North Carolina, and the nose section is on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. 2000 |
