Thank you Chuck for your kind remembrance of my birthday! Yes this is me [Ronald] below in the photos (for those who have never met me and vice versa).  :hello:
I am stationed at Kandahar Air Field (KAF) in Afghanistan which is a NATO Base[largest] and also a U.S. Army & CIA Base. I work as a Construction Project Manager for a prime contractor to the DOD/U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) overseeing some of their projects here. It is not too cold here right now, there is no snow, no vegetation, no birds & animals, no wind, just smell of jet fuel, practice flares, thunder of F-16s, A-10s, C-17 cargo planes, C-5A, IL-76s & Antonov 225, A-6, Apaches,C-130s, predator drones and much much more, etc. Oh and lost of dust & dirt around here.

I will be here for another two years and then wait and see if there is more construction work here for my company.
I will return home [Berea] for some R&R in April 2011.

The aerial views are from the window of a Eastern-Skyjets Airlines Boeing 737 on final. This airline operates daily between Dubai (DXB), Kandahar & Baghram Airbase.  <a href="You need to be a member to view our links./b229/ARIF1956/PA136411.jpg">Image

Wow, Ronald...what a place, and those are some cool shots too!  Boy, that's quite a long time to spend there as a contractor, but at least you will have a chance to visit home in April.  I'm sure your family will be very happy to see you!  Thanks for your donation too...much appreciated!
