Spirit Airlines, celebrating its 5 year anniversary in Cleveland this month, announced a major network expansion. This expansion is projected to increase flights in and out of Cleveland in 2020 by 53%, while seats are projected to be up 62%. Spirit officials say they expect the airline to carry more passengers in and out of Cleveland in 2020 than Frontier -- which would earn the airline the title of most popular Ultra low-cost carrier in the region.

Here's an overview of the recent network additions (via You need to be a member to view our links.)

* New service to Cancun, Mexico, starting Feb. 14; the route will run four times per week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

* Daily service to Tampa, expanding from seasonal to year-round.

* Additional daily flights to Orlando (to two or three times daily); Fort Lauderdale (to two times daily); Las Vegas (to two times daily); and Myrtle Beach (to two times daily, during the season).
