He was the chairman of the "Uniform Redesign Committee."  Maybe that was too much for him...

Well being an airline employee this guy is my HERO!!!!!!!

Dealing with rude passenger, who was not following safety procedures, being cussed out by this passenger

This guy did what we all have felt like doing at one time in this business

I have mixed feelings about this.  Surely not his finest moment, but I can almost understand.  Hope he enjoyed those beers!  :headbang:

Same here.  I wouldn't call him my hero, but I can totally see how someone can snap.  For some reason passengers on airplanes think they can get away with anything.  Nobody in a restaurant or store or office would dare to tell a employee to f... off and think they can get away with it.  On an airplane, it seems to be a free for all.  And unfortunately airlines don't back their employees up either.
Cussing her out over the PA and taking the beers is cool in my book, blowing the slide not so much.  Someone underneath could have gotten hurt etc...

I can understand the part of being ready to snap at customers, but c'mon. Like Michi said, the beers and giving that lady a piece of his mind are actually pretty funny but to actually snap and blow the slide.... that is the equivalent of me taking my semi and parking it in aisle two of one of my stops, that would classify me as a crazy SOB.

HERO...we have all dealt with rude passengers, when I worked the ticket counter at UA Express many moons ago and the things that would be hurled at me when ORD was in delay program...trust me, I was barely able to hold it together at times

Now I do think the media coverage is just a tad too much

I really can't believe the support that this guy is receiving.  Regardless of our position in the airline, we all have a responsibility to ourselves, our coworkers, our customers and the general public.  He should have never, ever sacrificed his dedication to safety.  This idiot threw it all away over what?  A bad day?  I'd be a rich man if I had a nickel for every time someone told me to f*** myself.  Get over it!  He's an embarrassment to himself and his profession.  I hope the airline seeks damages for the slide deployment and the government throws the book at him.
