Due to the increased popularity of the photo galleries, I thought I would lay down some basic ground rules for uploading photos here at OPShots.net.

The Categories:

All pre-labelled aviation categories as well as the Non-Aviation Photo Gallery will be for OPShots Photo Team members only.  These include the following sections:

Aviation Photos
Airshows and Fly-Ins
Cleveland Hopkins Airport Vintage Galleries
Non-Aviation Photo Galleries

Many photos have already been uploaded to these galleries by non-Team members, but don't worry, we will not remove them, but will try to relocate them to the appropriate area in the near future.

The User Galleries are intended to be a free space for all OPShots visitors and members to upload their shots for all to enjoy.  If your photos do not fit into one of the pre-existing categories, please create an album of your own naming.  Remember, Cleveland Aviation is the focus of this site, and I don't want it to stray too far from this primary objective.  If you have an idea for a category, don't hesitate to suggest it.  You can email Mark or myself, or post your idea in the forum.

The Photos:

Size-
The maximum file size for photos on this site is 650KB.  While many large photos fall under this qualifying file size, try to remember that most computer screens are not much larger than 1200 pixels in size, and any photos larger than that will be very difficult to view on most computers.  I generally recommend no larger than 1100 pixels in width for your best photos, and 1024 pixels is always a good size for most photos.

Quality-
While I have no intention to get into screening photos, please remember, we do have the right to remove anything we do not deem fitting or appropriate.  And as for editing skills, this is something we can all work on.  I would love to see nothing but perfect photos here, but I know this is not reality, and indeed my whole purpose of starting this site was to have a place to post less than perfect photos.  Having said that, please do your best to get your photos properly levelled, sized, and cropped and edited to the best of your ability.  I'm not looking for perfection, just an effort! This will please me, as well as the visitors to the site.  If you do not want to do that, post your photo in the forum and not in the galleries.  You can find many helpful tutorials on editing photos online, or check this very helpful one out:

Subjects-
Most anything aviation is acceptable, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.  Photos submitted for the Vintage Cleveland Galleries will be given much leeway.  Again, contact Mark or myself to get you a gallery of your own set up.

The Information Fields-
Until such time as we can get an automated and simpler to use upload page in place, I humbly request that the aircraft registration (if known)  be placed in the title line.  The reason for this, is that the search engine can find your aircraft just by the title then, without having to check other search fields.  Eventually, all the fields will be searchable by default, then it won't be an issue at all.  I will actually look into this tonite and see if that change can be made easily.

Use your sense of propriety, decency, and common sense when uploading photos, and everything should be just fine.

The OPShots Photo Team:

The OPShots Photo Team (Team OPShots) consists of members who have been hand-picked, and extended an invitation to join.  The team is limited to those who have displayed adequate photo and editing skills, or posess some other outstanding feature warranting membership.  If you have not been offered an invitation, don't worry, with time and improved editing, your invitation won't be far away!
