And FYI, the plane is parked at what is now the "A" concourse. Gate A-14 to be exact. The position is evident by the Sheraton in the left-hand side of the photo!

Cool...thanks for confirming this. I have a vague recollection of going to the airport to pick my dad up from business trips and seeing these A310s.

You are exactly right! Off to DTW then LGW..Delta did fly that route for a short while ..Northwest eventually took over the DTW-LGW route

If memory serves me correctly the A310s went to DTW then on to London Gatwick. I think Delta operated the route for a short time after they took over some of Pan Am's assets. someone correct me if I'm wrong. I was 16 in 1991 so my memory may be off a bit.
