N368PH (cn 512) Heading out for departure on a nice March afternoon, you can easily see the reinforced fuselage panels in the prop-line to help protect the aircraft from ice and other debris which may be thrown by the props.

Thanks for that wrench...I often wondered how much protection that would really offer. Ice/FOD protection makes so much more sense!

The reinforced panel that you are referring to is for ice protection , both impact from the blades shedding ice and acoustically from the noise of the ice impacting the fuselage. It will not protect if a blade were to separate.

Nice shot. If a prop were to fail in that direction would that "reinforcement" really make a difference? Keep em' coming Chuck, you've been putting up some good stuff.
