Wow I`m quite impressed that you would reply to the comments, Chuck and Mark you must be truly part of the global aviation community, which is large but when you think about it is real small! BTW heard that ship is a real rocket continued success with future endeavors!

Should have contacted us. We would have given you the details. After a few problems with the retractable gear we retrofitted it with a Collier fixed gear conversion. Works great. Still got 220kts out of it at just 10.5 gallons per hour. Fast bird. We blew a tire on take off at Memphis Tennessee. It through us into a ditch when we put it back on the ground to fix the tire. It has since been sold to a fellow flyer in Canada, who will have fun fixing it up and should have it back in the air shortly. It is a dream to fly.

I guess we should stick to your original assumption and quick racking our brains and bites and assume its been modded to the Spirit config. heck who knows with that elaborate retract mechanism on the mains , maybe they might have folded once also!

There is another photo on the web showing a Questair with this registration in bare metal finish and full retracts. I agree, it is confusing and there must be more to the story!

There is two different versions of this plane, one version has a tri-cycle gear that is all fully retractable (Venture)like the one I captured before see photo ID21848, and another version where only the nose gear retracts (Spirit). But if you go to the FAA registry list this particular aircraft is supposed to be a Venture? Wikipedia list it as a Spirit.

Okay...this is kinda confusing! This aircraft apparently used to have full retracts. Perhaps modified to a nose-only retract like some other sport aircraft models. Looks like some research is in order! Cool catch in that it looks like the pilot wasn't injured, but the left main and nose will need some work!

Oopsie daisy! What a little nymph of a plane!
