N34D (cn 4865) N34D,ex 41-20095, now known as the "Beach City Baby" is currently underway to be made airworthy. She is set to leave Beach City by March 2017 where a complete restoration will begin by Vintage Wings Inc. Though listed as a DC-3, she was born a C-53 Skytrooper and flew for most of WWII in executive transport. She is known to have flown Jimmy Doolittle, MacArthur and "Ike". It has seen almost all major European fronts starting in North Africa with Operation Torch. She is one of the lowest timed Douglas DC3/C47/C53 airframes with only 17,000 total hours. She later flew for the State of Ohio in Executive Transport. |
