Unknown (cn Unknown) We were passing Lakehurst, New Jersey when I looked out at the air base and noticed the U.S. Government's newest spy aircraft sitting there. It is called the LEMV (Long-Endurance Multi-Intelligence Vehicle) that is quite possibly the largest unmanned aerial vehicle that is being developed under the U.S. Army's ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) program. It is actually considered an HAV (Hybrid Aerial Vehicle) that derives its lift from its aerodynamic shape, vectored thrust, and buoyancy. According to Northrop Grumman, it is about 300 feet long and can stay on station with its "persistent surveillance capability" for 21 days.
