N272WA (cn 48437 ) only using about 3000 feet of runway, World Airways Ship 272, under the command of 3, powerful PW4000s, climbs away steeply. He's headed for Dallas, where he would load up on troops and ferry them to Maine and then nonstop to Iraq. |

N923DL (cn 49705) Because of dense traffic flooding into ATL, some planes cant skip off the runway fast enough. Ship 923, after coming all the way to short final, had to go around. The roar of twin JT8D-212s was impressive. He's shown here, semi cleaned up and already crossing over 600 feet. |

52-4123 (cn 53-0658) Another shot of the magnificent F-86L restoration being performed by the team at MAPS at CAK. Though it looks ready to fly, this aircraft is being restored to display status only. The aircraft is in the markings of J.B. Lang of the 496 FIS, Hahn AB, Germany, who perished in the F-86D while flying with that unit. For more info on the restoration, see here:rnhttp://sites.google.com/a/mapsairmuseum.org/f-86d-l-53-0658/rnOr better yet, go see it in person! |

52-4123 (cn 53-0658) This stunning F-86L (original s/n 53-0658) is undergoing restoration at MAPS Museum at CAK. The aircraft was originally built as a F-86D, converted to a F-86L, and is being restored by MAPS in the markings of F-86D s/n 52-4123 of the 496 FIS based at Hahn AB in Germany. I had the distinct honor of working on this aircraft at the museum for a year and a half, and the finshing crew are doing a fantastic job getting it ready for final display. For more information on this restoration (which can be viewed anytime the museum is open) go to:rnhttp://sites.google.com/a/mapsairmuseum.org/f-86d-l-53-0658/ |
