| N31518 (cn Unknown) It's original serial number remains unknown to this day, but this was a standard F4U-1D before being turned into this "Super Corsair" racer in 1982. Pictured here in 1985 at the Reno Air Races shortly before winning the Unlimited Class Gold race with a record speed of 438.186 mph over a 73.776 mile course. | N31518 (cn Unknown) Piloted by Steve Hinton, well known for his stunt flying for the TV series "Baa Baa Black Sheep", aka "Blacksheep Squadron", this All-Coast Forest Products Corsair was the winner of the Unlimited Class Gold race at Reno in 1985 setting a new race record at 438+ mph, and is being signed in magic marker by crew members following the race. With clipped wings a streamlined canopy and twice the horsepower of a standard Corsair, this plane would be destroyed on March 19, 1994 during the Phoenix 500 race seriously injuring the pilot.
