Do we have any departure information for any of these diverted aircraft?  I'm thinking about driving to CLE tomorrow to see what I can see.

Chuck: I assume CO is not responsible for paying for lodging or food for these passengers due to this being beyond their control. But do CO customer service agents assist with aiding passengers or making arrangements? Are there passengers just stranded in the terminal? Are there foreign language speakers (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Swedish (although I bet most everyone speaks passable English)) to assist as well? I'm curious about the logistics of such an unusual event. Without divulging any trade or security secrets, are there contingency plans in place for such things?

Ditto!! Need to know if some of these babies are staying and leaving tomorrow?

You need to be a member to view our links.

"Newark bound aircraft that were diverted on Monday are currently scheduled to arrive on or after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday."

I still don't see anything on FlightAware yet, but they must be planning to leave pretty early in the morning to make that 8:00 a.m. arrival!

That would be nice, but due to the sheer volume of snow that needs to be removed and the backlog of flights that diverted everywhere, they would be lucky to arrive at 8:00AM.  I think the key words there are "or after!"  Sucks, but what can you do?

As for putting passengers up, I know the rules have changed but I still believe that airlines are not held responsible for paying for passenger's rooms in the case of a weather event.  Even so, I know that many passengers are being assisted in finding accommodations, and that unaccompanied minors are being taken home by employees to be cared for.

(My personal kudos to all the Cleveland folks who have been working long and hard to do the best they can for all these customers...I think they have been doing a fantastic job!  :headbang: )

As for speakers...well, they could probably use a few more in cases like this, but every flight comes with crew members who speak the native tongue and I am sure they are more than earning the extra money they make for this ability!

I don't know when the flights are leaving, but if I do I'll let you know.

From continental.com:

CO1955: 777 (ship #22 ex HKG) shown departing at 4:00 p.m. (from gate E18-where the heck is that?)
CO1957: 777 (ship #11 ex PVG) shown departing at 10:00 a.m.(from gate C9)
CO1958: 777 (ship #5 ex DEL) shown departing at 12:00 p.m.(from gate E18?)
CO1959: 757 (ship #103 ex ARN) shown departing at 2:00 p.m.(from gate C10)

That accounts for 4/5 of the heavies. I didn't see reference to the 4th 777. Also, it seems like things are still quite chaotic as operations slowly resume at EWR.

The fifth one never came here, it wound up in Montreal.  As for E18...I'm not sure, but I think that's referring to the pad where the two planes are parked now but I'm sure they'll be moved to an actual gate for boarding.  It's a nice day for pictures though!

Weren't there 4 777's and 1 757 (a 757 is technically a "heavy," no?) in total? Hope you get some more nice shots today.

I'm hoping to get ready early for work so I can get to the airport for some departures beforehand!
