N587CB (cn CCF4-407) Another nice catch at the Liberty Aviation Museum, Port Clinton Municipal Airport. rnAccording to Internet sources, this aircraft, part of the North American T-6/AT-6/SNJ Texan family, was built for the Italian Air Force as a Canadian T-6 with serial #51-17225, MM53844 AMI, but later restored to represent a Harvard Mk.IV. |

Unknown (cn Unknown) A rather clean Island Airlines Ford Trimotor sits outside the Company's hangar at Port Clinton Airport, OH in this undated postcard from my collection. It is amazing how many Island Trimotor postcards there are out there. This one reads:Island Airlines; Shortest Airline in the world. 3 miles East of Port Clinton, OH on US Rt 2. Frequent scheduled flights year round to the Lake Erie Islands. Flying 1928 Ford Tri-Motor planes, the line offers low fares and an excellent safety record. Thousands each year enjoy the scenic flight over the islands. |

NC9684 (cn 40) In the not-too distant future, you will be able to board this aircraft through this door for a trip back through time. The newly opened Liberty Aviation Museum is in the process of rebuilding this classic from the ground up with hopes of returning it to the air in the colors of fondly remembered Island Airlines which was based here at PCW, and for whom this aircraft actually flew. This extensive restoration is made possible by reproducing the exact measurements of all the parts of the original aircraft with newly manufactured parts. As a kid, I flew on an Island Airlines Tri-Motor from here, and I can't wait to do it again! |
