91-0104 / 4103 (cn 91-0104) With all the excitement of the Ohio ANG at Mansfield receiving brand new C-27J's, what is little known is that the Air Force operated 10 C-27A's from Howard AFB in Panama from 1990 to 1999. The aircraft pictured served with the 24th AW,310 AS, and I photographed this one at the Dayton Air Show in 1993. The main visible difference between this version and the one now flown by the Ohio Air Guard is the props- the C-27A had 3 blades as opposed to the current C-27J's 6 blades. Upon retirement from the USAF, this aircraft served with the US State Department as N47892. |
