66-0177 (cn 300-6203) March 23, 2011. This Lockheed C-141C, known as the Hanoi Taxi, became world famous on February 12, 1973 when it was the first aircraft to touchdown in Hanoi, North Vietnam to repatriate American POWs. In May, 2004, the Hanoi Taxi once again made history when Maj. Gen. Edward J. Mechenbier, himself a POW of Vietnam, flew it back to Vietnam to repatriate the remains of two American service members killed in action. The aircraft is currently on display outdoors, but the museum plans to move it indoors pending the completion of a 4th hangar for the museum.

48-626 / 48-622 (cn 2510) March 23, 2011. The aircraft on display is marked as 48-622, but is actually 48-626. The description at the display indicates that the plane was repainted to represent the YC-125B that was based at Wright-Patterson AFB in 1950 and used for cold-weather testing.

52-2220 (cn 361) March 23, 2011. Fear that Britain would fall to Nazi Germany prior to the US entering WWII, the development of a truly long-range intercontinental strategic bomber was imperative. Technology of the day couldn't meet the demands set forth by the USAF; the B-36 was as close as anybody could come. On display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, this B-36 last flew 52 years ago on April 3, 1959 to be put on display in the museum. The aircraft is so massive that it could barely be framed from an upper-level observation area!

N413SW (cn 7102) Taxiing to gate C-29 in an older version of the house livery, this Skywest CRJ is operating for United Express. Coincidentally, I caught this same aircraft at LAX last month.
